Mr. Albert A. Cady

DALTON- Albert A. Cady, 90, formerly of Tower Rd., and most recently of Sugar Hill Assisted Living Facility, passed away Monday, February 27th at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Adams, MA on November 19, 1926 the son of Harold and Clara O’Dell Cady. He was a 1944 graduate of Dalton High School. Al was a World War II veteran, serving as a Quartermaster Third Class in the US NAVY on the USS Westmoreland. Al was a 40-year employee of General Electric retiring June 1, 1987. He split his career there between the Transformers and the Plastics divisions; and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. Al was a lifetime member of the Dalton American Legion Benjamin F. Sullivan, Inc., MA Post 155 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9566 Anthony J. De Angelus. Al enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and especially his hunting trips at his camp in Orford, NH. Al enjoyed his winter stays in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a former coach in the Dalton Babe Ruth League coaching the Byron Weston Team for several years. Albert is survived by his son A. Michael Cady and his wife Kelley Khoury-Cady of Pittsfield, his daughters Kathleen DiNicola and her husband Geno DiNicola of Dalton and Melissa Cady of Hinsdale, MA. He is survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Cimini, Kelley Cady, Gary DiNicola, Brian DiNicola and Quinten DiNicola all of Dalton, MA. Al’s great grandchildren are Haley and Heidi Cimini. Al’s brother Burton Cady and his wife Anita of Norfolk, MA. He leaves a niece and several nephews. Al also leaves his longtime companion of 15 years, Bernice Filkins, of Dalton. He was predeceased by his wife the former Joyce M. Irwin and his former wife Margaret T. Cady, a brother Edwin Cady and a sister Lois Wilbur. Albert’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Sugar Hill Assisted Living for the wonderful care. They would also like to thank the staffs at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility and Berkshire Medical Center. FUNERAL NOTICE- Funeral services for Mr. Albert A. Cady will be held Friday at 11AM at the First Congregational Church of Dalton. Burial will follow in the Ashuelot Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be held 4-6PM on Thursday at the BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. Donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to the First Congregational Church of Dalton Memorial Fund or the Dalton Ambulance Fund in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
