Mr. Keith L. Weller

Keith L. Weller, born September 17, 1952, died February 19, 2016, in Pittsfield, MA, with his adoring wife of 29 years, Sharon A. Weller, by his side. He is survived by his loving children, Richard T. (Michelle) Burrows Jr of Richmond, VA, Christine A. (Ben) Betit of Pittsfield, MA, Courtney A. (Ben) Erzkus of Marquette, NE, and his honorary daughter Michelle (Paul) Caver of White River Junction, NY; his grandchildren, Adam C. (Ashley) Burrows of Mechanicsville, NY, and Liam & Aiden Betit of Dalton, MA, who were his pride and joy; great-grandchildren Jaden Burrows and his mom Janet Castaneda of Arlington, TX, Antigone Pappas and Caden Patterson, who he delighted in seeing during their visits; and his faithful dog and companion, Snickers. Keith thought nothing more important than family. He leaves behind his dedicated and loving sisters, Karen L. (John) Sleeter of Burnt Hills, NY and Kristine L. Weller of Scotia, NY; his niece Jennifer Sleeter, extended family consisting of uncles, aunt, and cousins. Keith was predeceased by his parents Leland T. Weller Jr (father), Virginia M. Quick (mother) and Anna C. Buckoff (step-mother). Keith was an avid, life-long learner. He graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School (NY) in 1970 with a focus on College Prep; Schenectady County Community College (NY), in 1974 with an associate degree in Management Engineering Technology; Pittsburg State University (KS) in 1975 with a bachelor Metals Manufacturing – Industrial Engineering, and in 1976 with a master degree. He earned high academic achievement by remaining on the Dean’s List while at Pittsburg State. Keith led a full and adventurous life. He achieved high honors as an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America and continued to support the organization as an advisor. It is not well known but Keith was a licensed pilot and enjoyed many years of flying before becoming a dedicated family man. He loved travelling to historical places and playing board games with his family. Woodworking and fishing were a great pleasure in his life and he loved baking for his family. Keith touched many lives personally but also professionally. As a Quality Control Inspector, Keith was able to influence positive change throughout General Electric, in which he was employed for 40 years. He believed in completing each job with specifications and would except nothing less from himself and others. After certification, he integrated the principles of Six Sigma with his diverse experiences and knowledge to improve manufacturing processing as he travelled abroad and around the country, meeting with other professionals and mentoring junior employees, who hoped to have a career similar to his. Keith believed in investing in people. In fact, he spear-headed a pilot machinist apprentice program at GE in partnership with Hudson Valley Community College. He was also a member of the GE Elfun Society and believed strongly in the mission of improving the lives of its members and the lives of others within the surrounding community. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Glenville, NY), a communicant at St. Agnes Catholic Church (Dalton, MA), and served God with a joyful heart. Keith was a wonderful example of being available to all who needed him. The loss of his presence for his family will be deeply felt today and for all the years to come. He left a strong impression of living life with honor, integrity and with love for others. He was equally courageous in good health and as illnesses presented obstacles. He never stopped planning for the next day and those who spent time with him were inspired by the strength and determination he demonstrated to enjoy his days with us. The respect for Keith goes beyond his family and extended to his many friends and neighbors. Keith lived a good life and will be missed. FUNERAL NOTICE- Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd from 5 pm – 7 pm at Bartlett Wellington Funeral Home, Dalton MA. His funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 24th at St Agnes Catholic Church, Dalton, MA, with burial immediately following at the Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, MA. Memorials can be made in Keith’s honor to the American Diabetes Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
