Mrs. Rose L. Gooley

As the early morning sun rises, with the smell of coffee in the air, you could see mom sitting in her chair having coffee and toast with the Berkshire Eagle in hand. Always the first one awake getting ready for the day whether getting us ready for school or her day at work. Born the 21st day of October in 1945. She was born to the late Carmen and Mildred Cummings Vallone. She shared a loving home on Deming St with her brother, the late Michael Vallone and her two sisters, her twin Mildred Hubbard and Mary DuPuis. She was a 1963 graduate of PHS. She married in her early twenties to the late John W. Gooley Sr. and soon after began her family. They built their home in a neighborhood they loved. She was known as "The Neighborhood Mom". Often when you came to our house, mom would tell you to help yourself to things because she wasnt going to wait on you. At least once a week Rose could be found in the kitchen making her famous Meatballs and on occasion making sausage, peppers and onions for grinders. When the weather was nice, there wasnt a weekend that went by that she couldn't find a reason to have a picnic. She would also be spotted sitting poolside with her sister Millie and brother-in-law Dave having coffee. In the early years of her marriage she worked at Rises Silk Mill and then later worked at Big y Supermarket, where she held positions in the deli, the office and front end supervising. The role of front end supervisor is where she made the biggest difference. She soon became a second mother to all the teens she worked with. Some whom became life long friends. Mom loved being around family. She was always helping take care of her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She loved to read her romance novels, loved going for walks with the grandchildren around the neighborhood, crocheting and doing crafts with all of us. In her later years after her husband died in 2008, the dementia started taking over and the tv became her best friend. She leaves behind her sisters Mildred (Dave) Hubbard and Mary(Bob) DuPuis. Her daughter's who were also her caregivers, Paula Gooley, Pamela Gooley-Bona and her husband Michael Bona, and her son John Gooley jr. She leaves her precious grandchildren Brooke, Lexie and Gabrielle Bridagan, Caitlyn Gooley, Ryan and Makayla Bona and Cole Stevens. Also too many to acknowledge extended family members, nieces and nephews, sister and brother in laws. Some who have passed and many who are thankfully still with us. Just after noon time she took her last breath on August 30, 2019 at the age of 73. She lived a loving life that was simple but comfortable with her family close by. May this obituary ignite fond memories to family and friends, please know Rose is smiling down upon us. We are proud to have Rose as our mother, we will never forget her loving ways. She was truly our bestfriend.
