Mrs. Shirley Lois Lecuyer

Shirley Lois Irish Lecuyer, 96 of Peru, died peacefully May 7, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Shirley was born in Dalton, August 28, 1920 the daughter of the late Archie and Julia Ferry Irish. She graduated from the former Dalton High School in 1938. She worked at Crane & Company's Stationary Mill before enlisting in the Women's Army Air Corps in 1943 and has been a member of the Dalton American Legion Post #155 for over 60 years. Shirley was a long-time Windsor resident living there for 53 years before moving to River Run in Dalton in 2004 and Peru in 2014. She was a homemaker dedicated to her family. An active member of the community she belonged to the Windsor Ladies Aid Society, Windsor Historical Society, Windsor's walking group, craft group, exercise group and card players. She volunteered at Windsor's library for several years. She drove for the COA, worked many years as an election worker and helped with the firemen's Bingo. An avid bowler, she bowled at the American Legion, Dalton CRA and the Imperial Lanes. Throughout her life Shirley enjoyed sewing, knitting crafts, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, word search and coloring. Recently her most favorite pastime was eating out with family especially at Friendly's. Her husband Elie G. Lecuyer whom she married August 28, 1943 died June 12, 1990. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Myrick of Pittsfield, Linda Kellogg (Terry) of Peru, with whom she made her home, and Janet Kilmer (Art) of Essex, Vermont. Grandchildren Dan Myrick (Tracey) of Birmingham, AL, Tammy Stanton of Pittsfield, Mandi Aguilar (Angel) of El Cajon, CA, Tedd Myrick (Chelli) of El Cajon, CA, Kimberly Codding (Alan) of Adams, Miranda Kellogg of Windsor, Sanoma Kellogg (Ramdane Heroumi) Of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Christopher Kilmer (Anna) of Campton, NH, Tracy O'Connor (Sean) of Milford, NH, and Brett Kilmer (Laura) of Milford, NH. Great Grandchildren Elizabeth Stepen (Michael) Ashlee, Brandon and Tabitha Stanton, Jordyn Codding, Morgan Kellogg, Eli and Adam Kilmer, Killian, Brady and Sullivan O'Connor, and Katelynn Kilmer. Great Great Grandchildren Damian, Landyn and Carleigh Stepen, Dontae and Keanyn Stanton, Jayden Hyde and Aubree Carmon. She is also survived by her sister Bertha Higgins of Plainfield, her cousin Hugh Ferry of Windsor and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Ralph and Floyd Irish, her sisters Ruth Burdick and Doris Parker and her son-in law Robert Myrick. FUNERAL NOTICE- Calling hours will Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 1-2PM be at BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a celebration of life. Burial will follow in Shaw Cemetery in Windsor.
