Mrs. Anne H. McGuigan

Mrs. Anne. H. McGuigan, 90, of Pittsfield, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on May 18, 1932, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Fox Harrington, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1950, Pro Merito. Anne’s first job as a young girl was playing records for the Allen Hotel in Pittsfield. She also worked for Allstate insurance. For much of her career, Anne was employed by Katz and LaPointe, where she worked as a paralegal. It was there she dedicated 43 years until her retirement at age 77 in 2009. Among many things, Anne was a loving mother devoted to her children, 17 grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She enjoyed sewing and shopping. Anne always spoke proudly of buying a new blouse each week with the money earned from the Allen Hotel. She would then sew a skirt, completing her outfit for the dance that particular week. Anne also loved gardening and cooking. Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, James J. McGuigan, Jr., whom she married November 12, 1955. James passed away in 2000. She as also predeceased by her great grandchild Jennifer Anderson in 1992, her son James Patrick “Chuck” McGuigan in 2018, and her 7 siblings, brothers Richard, Donald, Michael and Robert Harrington, and sisters, Glenna Benoit, Eunice Calkins and Shirley Tart. She is survived by her children, Colleen Parsons, Erin Weeden, Noreen Anderson (Brian), and Molly Sacco (Michael), as well as her grandchildren Kevin Parsons, Caitlin Ferry (Keith), Colleen Parsons, Ryan Anderson (Natasha), Brandon Anderson (Gabriela), Evan Anderson (Katie), and Cary Anderson, Seamus Weeden (Mattie), Conor Weeden, Meaghan Weeden (David), Nicole Sacco, Stella Sacco, Jackie Goetze (Craig), Harrison Sacco, Katy Kania (Joel), Molly McGuigan, Jayme McGuigan. Anne leaves behind her great grandchildren Charlotte Goetze, Vivienne Goetze, Greyson Goetze, Ziva Lydia Anderson, Roxanne Theodora Anderson, Aidan Ferry and Cameron Ferry. Anne’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at both HospiceCare in the Berkshires as well as Mt. Greylock ECF for their outstanding care and compassion during this time. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Anne H. McGuigan will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 12 noon at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be an hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the service, from 11 am to 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory can be made to the Eagle Santa Fund or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
