Mr. Bradford "Brad" Torrey

Mr. Bradford “Brad” Torrey, of Peru, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, just months before celebrating his 79th birthday. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on November 2, 1944, the son of the late James and Ura Smith Torrey, he graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1964. For much of his career, Brad was the assistant manager of Highlawn Farms. It was from there that he retired after approximately 12 years of dedicated service. Among many things, he enjoyed from an early age were the following: His dedication in life to serving his Lord, our Heavenly Father, with the additional guidance and teachings from the Brotherhood of Freemasons. Brad was a loyal Mason for just over fifty-five years, being proud of achieving 55 years of service as a Master Mason and receiving an award for this service and dedication on Thursday December 1st, 2022. A brotherhood to which he became a member on Monday September 11th, 1967. Brad enjoyed many things in life, to which some of the most memorable would be, Lebanon Valley Motor Speedway, all of County Fairs, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, and camping with his family. Finally, what brought the most joy to Brad over the most recent years was camping in Lake George, NY with his wife as much as possibly. Brad is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-five years, the former Evelyn Brooks, whom he married on Saturday July 6th, 1968. He leaves behind his wife Evelyn Ruth Torrey, son James Daren Torrey, Daughter in Law Megan Lynn Torrey, widowed Daughter in Law Paige Rosier, his sister Sheila Balch of Raleigh, North Carolina, and four grand children Hailey Marie Torrey, Kirsten Nicole Wood, Makayla Ann Torrey, and Bryce Michael Wood. Besides his parents, James Martin Torrey, and Ura Mary Smith, he was predeceased by his son Timothy “Tim” Thomas Torrey on Monday July 01, 2013. Service and Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home in Dalton, 525 Main St, Dalton MA 01226. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brad’s memory can be made to the First Congregational Church of Peru in one of two ways. Either in care of Coralie Pelkey 37 North Road Peru, MA 01235 or in care of the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home 525 Main Street Dalton, MA 01226. Funeral services for Mr. Bradford “Brad” Torrey, will be Friday, September 8, 2023, at 10 am at the Dalton United Methodist Church, 755 Main St, Dalton MA 01226. Burial service will be immediately following the church services at North Cemetery located on Pierce Road in Peru Massachusetts. The gathering for friends and family will take place at Ozzie’s Steak and Eggs located at 26 Maple Street in Hinsdale Massachusetts.
