Mr. Charles "Chuck" Frambach Jr.

Charles “Chuck” Frambach, Jr., 73, died September 29, 2016. Mr. Frambach was born on July 7, 1943, in Pittsfield, to Charles E., Sr. and Marjorie Sammon Frambach. He attended local schools, and he was a 1961 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Frambach was awarded the W.L. Pierson track award in 1961. He was co-captain of his high school's track team, and he held three Western Massachusetts track records in his senior year. Mr. Frambach enlisted in the US Air Force in August 1961, and he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) in August 1989 after 28 years of service. His tours of duty included Washington DC, Vietnam, Germany, Turkey, the US Air Force Academy, Nebraska, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Throughout his military career, he was awarded five Meritorious Service Medals, three Air Force Commendation Medals and nine Good Conduct Medals. He was employed as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from September 1993 to August 2009. Mr. Frambach enjoyed his family, his grandchildren, life, watching soccer and lacrosse, and staying actively involved in the support of Vietnam veterans. As part of his pursuit of enjoying life, he made his first parachute jump at the age of 69. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Air Force never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was a life time member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 65; the Air Force Sergeants Association.(AFSA); Disabled American Veterans (DAV); National Letter Carriers Association (NALC), Local Branch 286. Mr. Frambach leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Waltraud Frambach of Pittsfield; a son, Michael S. Frambach and wife Janet, of Northbridge, MA; a daughter, Barbara K. Caron and husband Brad, of Hingham, MA.; and four grandchildren - Drew, Madison, Morgan and Dane Caron; a sister, Pamela Rote and her husband, Paul Rote, Jr. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Charles “Chuck” Frambach Jr., will be Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 5 p.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with the Rev. Timothy Weisman, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will precede the service on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
