Mrs. Christina T. Faye

Mrs. Christina T. Faye, 87, of Dalton, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. Born in Springfield, MA, Nov. 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Christina MacLeod Warnock Ahrens and the late William Lyman Ahrens. She attended the local schools and graduated from Springfield Technical High School. She received her baccalaureate degree in History and Education from U. Mass. Amherst in 1958. Mrs. Faye was employed by the Central Berkshire Regional School District as a reading specialist for 23 years, retiring from Becket School on Jan. 1, 1991. As a former member of Grace Episcopal Church, she served as a vestry person, and as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and Visitor; presently a member of St. Helena's chapel, Lenox. A former member of the Board of Directors for the Berkshire Talking Chronicle, she served on the advisory board of the Mass. Association for the Blind. She was a member of the Current Topic Club of Dalton, the Friends of the Dalton Free Public Library, Inc., the Clan MacLeod Society of the USA.; Retired Educators of Mass. She and her husband, Robert G. Faye, were married Nov. 9, 1957. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William C. Faye of Moodus, CT and his wife Katharine Lynn Kuhl Faye; a daughter, Patricia L. Scallion of Herring Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada and her husband Wallace E. Scallion She also leaves a niece, Mrs. Deborah Gillespie of Canton, CT, five grandchildren: Scott Faye of Moodus, CT; Ross Faye of Nashua NH; Erica Scallion and her husband Mark Hammond of Nova Scotia , Canada; Alicia Scallion and her husband Justin Behie of Nova Scotia, Canada; and Melanie Scallion and her husband Andrew Low of Ottawa, Canada; and a grandniece, Trish Gillespie of NY, NY. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Low, Lena and Nora Hammond. She was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Coralie Granfield of Canton, CT. Funeral Notice: Cremation will take place, and a memorial service and interment at the convenience of the family at the Mass. Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Friends of the Dalton Free Public Library, or the Dalton Lions Charities in care of the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home.
