Ms. Eugenia Tymczuk

Eugenia Tymczuk, 97, of Pittsfield, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Berkshire Medical Center, after short related unrelated to Covid, with her loving family at her side. Born in Pittsfield, of where she was a lifelong resident, on December 14, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Anna Senyk Tymczuk, she attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in June of 1941. Jean was employed at General Electric Company as an executive secretary for 40 years. She was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club as well as the GE Pensioner’s Club. She was a lifelong communicant of St. John, the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, where her parents were founding members. She was heavily involved in church activities, a member of the Ukrainian Women’s Club and sang in the church choir. In her younger years, Jean and her sister Sophie took many air and sea vacations and were regular takers of Dufor Tours. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brothers, Samuel Tymczuk (Margaret), Jacob Tymczuk (Genevieve), sisters Mary (Tymczuk) Defever (Frank), Amelia (Tymczuk) Nykorchuk (William), and Sophie (Tymczuk) St. James (Raymond). She was also predeceased by her niece, Lois Maciejewski (Tymczuk), Allen Tymczuk, Donald and Eugene (Tymczuk) Defever, and David and Dennis (Tymczuk) St. James. Jean is survived by her nephews, Peter and Stephen Nykorchuk, William Yanicki (Donna Shubert) and family, grandnieces and nephews, and great grandnieces and nephews. Funeral Services: Funeral services for Eugenia “Jean” Tymczuk will be Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield MA 01201, with the Fr. Januscz Jedrychowski, Administrator, officiating. There will be an hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the service, from 9 am to 10 am. Due to the recent rise in Covid cases, all who attend these services will be required to wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory can be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church of Hudson NY in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
