Mr. Gerald T. Hunt Sr.

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” T. Hunt Sr., 70, of 52 Lakeview St., died Wednesday morning, November 14, 2012 at home in the arms of his loving wife. Born in Pittsfield on August 17, 1942 the son of William F. and Florence L. Colburn Hunt he was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Hunt worked as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a US Army Reserve veteran. He enjoyed restoring military vehicles and belonged to the Military Collectors Club. Mr. Hunt was an accomplished woodworker and had formerly owned Jerry’s Sash window company. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling the country, playing different courses. He enjoyed Turkey calling and was an avid Bow Hunter. Mr. Hunt was communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, MA and a former Communicant of North American Martyrs Church where he volunteered. He was a member of the church parish council and on its finance committee at North American Martyrs. Among his many interests, he enjoyed his golden retriever pets, playing tennis, dancing, bicycling, walking, hiking and running. He especially liked spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father and poppy. He leaves his wife, the former Eleanor “Ginger” Harder, whom he married 50 years ago tomorrow, on November 17, 1962. Jerry leaves his two sons, Gerald T. Hunt Jr. and his wife Chantel, of Long Beach, NY and Jeffrey J. Hunt and Korey Malies of South Lake Tahoe, CA; two brothers, Richard Hunt of Brooklyn, NY and Charles Hunt of Pittsfield and five grandchildren, Madison, Delaney, twins Bronson, Tanner and Kylea. He was predeceased by three brothers, Clifford, Robert, Donald and four half sisters, Dorothy, Elaine, Betty and Rita. Funeral Notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Gerald “Jerry” T. Hunt Sr. will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, celebrated by Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA, who is in charge of the arrangements.
