Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Talis

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Talis, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on May 1, 1944, son of the late John and Yolanda Carpinello Talis, he graduated from the former St. Joseph Central High School with the class of 1962, and later studied electrical engineering at Berkshire Community College. Jerry began his career at Bousquet and General Electric, where he worked as a Coil Winding Instructor. After accepting a position as a Production Supervisor at Cooper McGraw Edison in Lumberton, MS, he relocated there with his family, where he would stay for the next 12 years until their return to Pittsfield in 1986. Jerry was then employed by Beloit Jones Corporation for several years before relocating to Danbury, CT. He later retired from Proctor and Gamble, where he dedicated 10 years of service. On June 14, 1997, Jerry married the former Francis “Sharon” Formanek. Before her passing on March 13, 2021, the two enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, and spending time with family. Jerry and Sharon shared a love of animals and have adopted many fur babies over the years, including their beloved Snowy. In his most recent years, Jerry became an avid puzzle builder, building intricate 3D puzzles with lights and moving parts. Jerry is survived by his three children: Melissa Pocock (Matthew), Michael Talis (Resee Byron), and Matthew Talis (Becky). He also leaves his three grandchildren, Jeffery, Sydney, and Spencer, as well as his great grandson, Lorenzo, all of whom held a special place in his heart. The family wishes to thank all the loving and caring staff at Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place for going above and beyond, welcoming Jerry into your hearts and your lives. He is forever grateful for all the friends he made while there. They would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and aides at BMC, the Phelps Cancer Center, and Baystate Hospital. Their outstanding support and care during this difficult time was extremely appreciated and did not go unnoticed. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Jerry will be Thursday, July 23, 2026, with a Liturgy of Chrisitan Burial at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Very Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Vica General/Moderator of the Curia. Burial will be private In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Baystate Hospice in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
