Mrs. Glenda "Poochie" Gregory

Mrs. Glenda ‘Poochie’ Gregory, of Pittsfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, just months before celebrating her 88th birthday. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on December 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Albina Turner Renzi, and graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1955. In her yearbook that year, she was voted ‘Prettiest Smile’ by her fellow classmates. On July 15, 1961, Glenda married Richard Gregory. Together, they built their lives and raised three loving children. Glenda's family was always her top priority. Primarily a homemaker, she devoted most of her time raising her children and volunteering at their school activities. Upon returning to the workforce, she spent over 20 years as a clerk at MassDOT, previously Mass Highway Dept. There, she took pride in meticulously planning luncheons for her colleagues' retirements. Poochie's loved ones would say she was full of life, known for making the best chocolate mayonnaise cake, and an avid Red Sox fan--Ted Williams and Dewey Evans being her favorites. She loved listening to music and singing along, taking bus tours to see Bobby Vinton and Engelbert Humperdinck, even receiving kisses from both. She was also a long-time member of the Four Aces Candlepin Bowling league team. Glenda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard, as well as her three siblings, Kathleen ‘Cookie’ Smith, James Renzi, Richard Renzi and granddaughter Samantha Gregory. She is survived by her three children, Richard, Christine and Michael (Robin), six grandchildren; Alison, Lauren and Marisa Gregory, Heather Brazeau (Mark), Brian Gregory, Tyler Gregory (Julia), and great grandson Wells Gregory. The family extends their sincere gratitude for the many aides who cared for Glenda over the years, the wonderful staff at the Supportive Day Program, and for the kind and compassionate care she received at Mt. Carmel Care Center. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Glenda will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. Matthew Barone, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 4pm to 6pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St, Pittsfield MA 01201. In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenda’s memory can be made to The Berkshire County Jimmy Fund or the The Supportive Day Program at the Froio Senior Center, in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
