Mrs. Jean E. DiTomasso

Mrs. Jean E. DiTomasso, 77 of Cape Coral, FL formerly of Pittsfield, died peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Rehabilitation Center of Cape Coral. Born in Pittsfield on November 2, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Roland J. Pratt, Sr. and Sarah Madison Pratt. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. DiTomasso graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield in 1955. She later completed nurse anesthetist training. Mrs. DiTomasso worked as a nurse anesthetist at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, CT, the former St. Luke’s Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Later, she was employed by Berkshire Medical Center as a registered nurse working in many departments including labor & delivery, emergency and IV therapy. She loved gardening and was a member of the Springside Greenhouse Club and also enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and crafts. While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of the former Mount Carmel Church and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was predeceased by her husband, Elio V. DiTomasso whom she married on May 30, 1959. He died April 1, 1985. She will be dearly missed by her three children, Mark DiTomasso and his wife Colleen of North Fort Myers, FL, Paul DiTomasso and his wife, Dorene of Bethlehem, PA and Mari Stewart and her husband Dan Stewart of Mechanicsburg, PA. She leaves four grandchildren, Paul Elio DiTomasso of Arlington, VA, Amie DiTomasso of Pittsburgh, PA and Sarah and Danica Stewart of Mechanicsburg, PA. She was predeceased in death by her two brothers, Roland J. Pratt, Jr and Thomas Pratt. Special thanks to Hope Hospice and to the wonderful staff at the Rehabilitation Center of Cape Coral for their excellent support of their mother. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. Jean E. DiTomasso will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 9am from the Dwyer Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
