Mrs. Margaret "Peg" Kubicki

Mrs. Margaret “Peg” M. Kubicki, 90, of 87 Livingston Ave., passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Florida, where she enjoyed spending winters. Born in Portland, Maine on September 2, 1924 the daughter of James N. and Madelyn Whitmore McFarland, she attended schools in Maine. Mrs. Kubicki earned her nursing degree while living in Maine, she then moved to Pittsfield where she worked as a Registered Nurse at the former St. Luke’s Hospital. She later worked for Pittsfield General Hospital and retired as Nursing Supervisor at Berkshire Medical Center. Peg was an avid reader of both novels and newspapers and enjoyed crossword puzzles. After the passing of her husband, she began spending winters in Florida and enjoyed the many new friends she made there, including her longtime companion, George LeBlanc. Peg lived her life fully, independently and “Her Way”! She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Mitchell W. Kubicki whom she married in Waterville, ME on June 5, 1946; he passed away on June 22, 1988. She is also survived by her five children, Kathleen DiCicco and her husband Thomas of Hancock, MA, Michael Kubicki and his wife Jeri of Dalton, MA, Mary Fitzgerald and her husband Gene of Raleigh, NC and Nancy Falls and her husband John of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Patricia O’Handley and her husband Brian of Dalton, MA; six grandchildren, Jay DiCicco, Patrick DiCicco and his wife Beth, Jennifer Cook and her husband Dennis, David Kubicki, Stephen Kubicki and his wife Jessica and Matthew Fitzgerald and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa in April of 1983. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Emily Clifford and Patricia Prescott and a brother, Robert McFarland. Funeral Notice: Funeral Services for Mrs. Margaret “Peg” M. Kubicki will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to Berkshire County ARC, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in her Memory.
