Marion V. Drennan

Marion Virginia (Shea) Drennan of Pittsfield. Passed away on Tuesday, May 30 at 94 years old. She was born on May 29, 1923 in Dalton, Ma, the daughter of John M. Shea, Esq and Anne (McCarron) Shea . She attended Dalton schools and graduated from Dalton High School and Trinity College, Washington, D.C (1944) with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She was so proud of Trinity- her mother and daughter, Mary, were also Trinity graduates. After graduation and before marriage, she worked at General Electric as a Chemist and then was an elementary school teacher in the Pittsfield Public Schools. She married F. Richard Drennan, Esq. in 1951 and raised five children. She taught CCD at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield and was a member of the Rosary Sodality at Sacred Heart. Marion was an avid golfer, and loved the ocean, enjoying many Cape Cod and Newport, R.I. vacations. She was a very loving and dedicated wife and mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Dick, and they shared a great love- their song was “I’ll be seeing you.” Marion immersed her children in education, sports, and the arts, and they are eternally grateful. She was also devoted to Catholic education and all things related to St. Joseph Central High School. She leaves behind her children: Richard X Drennan, Esq, of Pittsfield, Dr. Peter J. Drennan and his wife, Michele of Longmeadow, Ma., Paul F. Drennan of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Mary S. (Drennan) Hanlon and her husband William of Melrose, Ma., and John L. Drennan, Esq. of Mt. Pleasant, SC.. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, her beloved sister-in-law, Ann (Drennan) Forsyth and her husband Donald of Germantown, Tenn., and many friends. They will all miss her Irish charm and wit dearly. Along with her late husband, she is predeceased by her brother, John F. Shea, Esq. and her daughter-in-law, Jamie (Sacchetti) Drennan. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Marion Virginia (Shea) Drennan will be Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be at Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA, on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of Springfield, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in her memory.
