Mrs. Mary Bredin

Mrs. Mary Bredin, 97, of Pittsfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Born in Great Barrington, MA, on April 3, 1924, the daughter of the late Edmund and Rosa Meier Bourquard, she graduated from Searles High School in Housatonic as a straight A student. Mary retired in 1986 as the Administrative Assistant in the Berkshire County commissioners' office after 14 years of service. She was presented a key to the County Courthouse and awarded a certificate from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in appreciation of her exceptional service. Prior to that she was employed for 13 years by the former Berkshire Car Leasing Inc. as the Assistant Treasurer and Office Manager. Family was everything to Mary. She loved spending time with her children and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also was a gifted artist and loved to go camping and vacationing. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Maurice C. Bredin, Jr., whom she married on October 12th 1946. She is survived by a son, Michael C Bredin of Attleboro; a daughter, Maureen Y McHugh of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Beloved mother in law to Frank J McHugh and Nancy A Bredin. Loving grandmother to Kimberly Croce and her husband Peter; Brendan Young and his wife Stacy; Stephanie Ramos and her husband Peter; Kathleen Tian and her husband Jia; and Matthew, Jason and Kyle Bredin. Beloved great grandmother to Anthony, Madelyn, Jillian and Evellyn Croce; Julia Young; Alana and Landon Ramos; Penelope and Eliot Tian. Also leaves two step grandchildren Joshua and Rachael McHugh and her spouse Alisha and son Jayden. A brother Leon Bourquard and his wife Londa. Predeceased by brothers Francis and Edmund Bourquard and a predeceased sister Irene Penney. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Bredin will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church with the Rev. Daniel Cymer, Administrator. Burial will follow at St. Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic, MA. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield MA 01201.
