Mrs. Mary E. Dowling

Mrs. Mary E. Dowling, 59, of Lanesborough passed away Friday morning, August 5, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on July 3, 1957 the daughter of William H. and Irene Shephard Hardy, she attended Dalton Schools. Mrs. Dowling worked as a CNA at Berkshire Medical Center for several years. She had also worked as an aide at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield and the former Curtis Manor Nursing Home in Dalton. Mary and her husband Jim owned and operated the former Berkshire North Cottages in Lanesborough. Mary was struck early in her life with chrones and ulcertive colitis but her courage and love of life enabled her to percivier. In 2006 she received a small bowel and pancreas transplant at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Mary’s past ten years were spent living life to the fullest possible, trips with her family and spending Jim’s money on her grandchildren. Her positive attitude in the face of sickness and pain served as an example of courage to all who knew her that was second to none. As Mary would say to all “ Everything will be O.K.” Mary is survived by her husband, James Dowling, Sr., whom she married on March 9, 1974. Mary and Jim were together since seventh grade. She is also survived by her two children, James Dowling Jr. and his wife Erin of Pittsfield and Heather Tatro and her husband Greg of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, Briana and Karlie Dowling and Easton Tatro; five siblings, Albert Eurbin and his wife Mary, Edward Eurbin and his wife Barbara, David Hardy and his wife Lorraine, Kenneth Hardy and his wife Kathy and Hope Hutchinson and her companion Louis, and brother in law Winthrop Drosehn. As well as her in-laws James and Marthann Dowling and her many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carol Drosehn . . Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Dowling will be Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA with a liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in Lanesborough. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Thomas E.
