Mr. Patrick P. (Carnie) Kearney

Mr. Patrick P. (Carnie) Kearney, 82, of 200 West Housatonic St., passed away at Berkshire Medical Center ICU unit with his wife holding his hand and Jesus, Mary and Joseph watching over him. Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1931 the son of Luke M. and Gertrude Mullen Kearney, he was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Mr. Carnie worked for Western Massachusetts Electric Company for 41 years, starting his career as a groundsman then a coal passer at Silver Lake. He retired as a meter service representative Class A in 1990. After retiring from Western MA Electric, he worked part time for Global Securities. He also volunteered at Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc. for over seven years. He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church and a former communicant of the former St. Mary of the Morning Star Church. He enjoyed reading and going for walks. Mr. Carnie leaves his wife, the former Joan M. Kinney, whom he married on August 21, 1954 in St. Mary of the Morning Star Church, with the Rev. Eugene F. Marshall officiating. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Vanessa Knight, Rebecca Kosla and Thomas Kosla; great grandson, Darren Knight; great granddaughter Peyton Knight and a son in law, David Kosla. Mr. Carnie leaves many cousins for whom he cared very much and his close friends for close to 60 years, Barbara and Richard Gore of Lee and Ocoee, FL. He was predeceased by his two daughters, Hope Elizabeth Kearney who died on September 18, 1993 and Heather Dundee Kosla who died on April 3, 2012. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Patrick P. (Carnie) Kearney will be Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:30 from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Calling hours at the funeral home will precede the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Following cremation, burial will take place Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the burial may meet inside the cemetery gates at 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, in his memory.
