Mr. Paul B. Fairweather

Mr. Paul B. Fairweather, 89, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on December 31, 1926 the son of Martin and Amy Gendron Fairweather, he attended Pittsfield schools. Mr. Fairweather was a WWII US Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific and European theatres. Paul was a longtime IBEW Local 7 electrician and supervisor for William L. Phair And Sons for forty four years. Paul served as president of the IBEW Local 7 for several years. A devout Catholic, he was an active communicant and volunteer of St. Charles Church for his entire life. Paul was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. Mr. Fairweather was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, the former Gertrude “Gert” Klupfel, whom he married on February 3, 1951; she passed away on October 18, 2015. He is survived by his six children, Elizabeth Mordaszewski and her husband Richard, Paul Michael Fairweather and his wife Sarah, James M. Fairweather and his wife Elizabeth, Amy Fairweather, Theresa Albert and her husband Denis, and John Fairweather. He also leaves his nine grandchildren, James M. Fairweather, Kristen Morin, Timothy Albert, Kaitlin Fairweather, Matthew Fairweather, Amanda Fairweather, Danielle Fairweather, Caroline Fairweather, and Gwendolyn Fairweather; three great grandchildren, Madison Fairweather, Avery Morin and John Paul Fairweather; sister in law, Margaret Scanlon and a nephew, Thomas Scanlon, and nieces Katherine Scott and Susan Detweiler. He was predeceased by a sister, Rita E. Detweiler and a brother Martin “Buddy” Fairweather. Paul loved life, his family, friends and country. A true gentleman, he loved dancing with his wife Gertrude, spending time with family and friends and celebrating family occasions . He loved playing golf, gardening and landscaping and was also an avid bicycle rider, completing five years of the Beach Bike Ride for Charity event up until age 87. He will be missed by all. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Paul B. Fairweather will be Monday, May 2, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, MA. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to The Fairweather Family Fund for Cancer Research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
