Mrs. Sally M. Leary

Mrs. Sally M. Leary, 76 of Clarendon St. died Oct. 14, 2015 at the Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on April 23, 1939 she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Daley Zimmerman she was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and a graduate of Pittsfield High School class of 57. Mrs. Leary was employed at the former Berkshire Bank & Trust in the Accounting Dept. retiring in 1989. In later years she ran her own Bed & Breakfast. Her special interest included Sunday dinners with family and friends, gardening, traveling, fishing and playing cards. In 1957 she was the runner up for Winter Carnival Queen. Sally was an avid Red Sox Fan. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. She had a feisty and contagious personality that kept everyone laughing. She was also well known for her phenomenal sense of humor. She was the widow of Edward D. Leary who died in 2009. They were married Sept. 1, 1957. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church. She leaves her son Daniel E. Leary and his wife Lynne of Pittsfield and her daughter Catherine M. Leary of Rocky Hill, Ct. Two sisters Beverly Sinico and her husband Jack of Westfield, MA and Martha Monterosso of Pittsfield 7 grandchildren Daniel E. Leary Jr., Kristen McCormick and her husband Ryan, Tony Cruz, Brendon and Rebecca Ouellette, Danielle DiCarlo and Michelle Messana. Also to mourn her passing include 4 great grandchildren, Eric Leary, Matthew, John and Molly McCormick as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Sandra Leary Messana who died in 1997. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff on 4west at BMC for their compassionate care and support in her final days. FUNERAL NOTICE Mrs. Sally M. Leary beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother in Pittsfield on Oct. 14, 2015. Funeral services will be Monday Oct. 19 AT 11:00Am at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday morning from 9:00Am until the 11:00am service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME 776 North St. Pittsfield, MA 0120.
