Mr. Wayne "Butch" Brunell

Mr. Wayne G. “Butch” Brunell, of Pittsfield, passed away at his home on Friday, March 24, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born in Adams, MA, on June 9, 1944, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Irene Bechard Brunell. He graduated in 1962 from the former Adams High School and later earned his Associate Degree in Finance at Hudson Valley Community College. Butch was also a graduate of the General Electric Company’s Financial Management Program. Butch was employed by General Electric for 26 years, where he worked in finance and payroll. He later worked for Braza Bra Corp. as an accountant retiring in May 2008 with 15 years of service. He continued working at Braza Bra on a Part time basis until he fully retired in February 2022. Butch was a lover of ALL sports. He especially was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. Back in the day, he played softball, he was an avid candle pin bowler and an excellent billiards player, but his true passion was playing golf. He was a former member of Forest Park Country Club and Wahconah Country Club where he and his wife enjoyed playing many rounds of golf together. He always looked forward to his yearly golf outings to Cape Cod and Saratoga with his golfing buddies. He coached Little League, Babe Ruth, and he even coached a girls softball team. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports through the years and never missed a game. He always tried to fool people with his playfully sarcastic sense of humor but, he was truly a soft and gentle man with a heart of gold. Butch is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, the former Kathleen Pulasky, whom he married on December 18, 1993. He leaves behind his two daughters Kristin Ferris (Kenneth) of Pittsfield, Victoria Nichols of Lanesboro, and his stepdaughter Ann Barnes (James) of Lanesboro and six grandchildren; Corey Nichols (Erica), Erin Horne (Robert), Michael and Matthew Ferris, and Erin and Liam O’Keefe, and his great-granddaughter Peyton Horne who was the apple of his eye. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Wayne “Butch” Brunell will be Monday, April 3, 2023, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. A Peter Gregory, Pastor Emeritus. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours for Butch will be Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield MA 01201. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital in care of Dwyer Funeral Home.
