Mr. William F. Magner

Mr. William F. Magner, age 85, of 235 Walker Street, Lenox , formerly of Pittsfield and Hutchinson Island, Florida, died February 1, 2012 He was born in Pittsfield, on April 6, 1926, the son of the late Dr. William F. Sr. and Norma Coster Magner. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He received his BA degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1950. Mr. Magner started his career at Cascade School Supplies in Olean, N.Y. and worked for most of his career for Schaeffer Eaton Paper Company where he was the National Sales Director. He retired in 1991 with a total of 40 years of service. He proudly served as a United States Marine during WWAR II in both China and the South Pacific. He was an active volunteer for Hancock Shaker Village, the Silvio O. Conte National Archives and the RSVP program in Pittsfield. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. His wife, the former, Jean G. Guiltinan, died September 27, 2007. They were married June 9, 1951 in St. Mark’s Church in Pittsfield. Throughout the years, Bill filled his life with family, friends, and laughter. He most enjoyed the times he spent surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves two sons, William F. Magner III (Marla) of Chevy Chase, MD and J. Anthony Magner of NY,NY; four daughters, Virginia Knoblauch (William) of Holmdel, NJ, Mary Kay McCloskey (John) of Pittsfield, Elizabeth A. Avery (David) of Pittsfield, and Jane Pixley (Craig) of Pittsfield. Beloved Grandfather to Hannah Knoblauch, Emily, Nora and Kevin McCloskey, Tate and Quinn Magner, Charlotte and William Avery, Kristina, Dimitri and Nikolai Pixley. He is also survived by four sisters in law, Marilyn Guiltinan, Mary Pat Flood (Dave), Claire Pezzini (George) and Rosemary Guiltinan. Funeral services will be tomorrow, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 8:00 A.M. from the Dwyer Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev.
