Christian John Vonberg, of Hinsdale, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, just days shy of his 23rd birthday. Born in Albany, NY, on January 8, 1998, with his twin brother Casey, the son of Darin Patrick Vonberg of Broadalbin NY and Mary Kay Cleveland Vonberg of Hinsdale, MA, Christian attended Wahconah High School where he was loved by all his teachers and students. Christian was a loved member of BCARC and was employed by Taco Bell for 3 years. Christian has battled brain cancer and a seizure disorder since the age of 5. He fought as a warrior through two brain surgeries and four treatments of Chemotherapy. His parents have a special place in their hearts for the amazing care Boston Children’s Hospital provided while facing many challenges. Christian enjoyed listening to all music, especially heavy metal. Among many things, he enjoyed playing Guitar Hero, basketball, snowboarding, and playing with his beloved nieces and nephews who adored him. He had a special spot in his heart for all animals, especially his cat Skye who never left his side. Christian leaves behind his very special mother, Mary Kay Cleveland Vonberg, who cared full time for him while be battled cancer, and his father, Darin Patrick Vonberg and stepmother Jessica Maye Vonberg. He is survived by his older sister Kayla Vonberg, twin brother and best friend Specialist Casey Vonberg of the United States Army, younger sister Kylee Vonberg, and younger brother Wolfgang Vonberg. Christian also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Shirley and Charles Cleveland, his nieces, Riley Vonberg, Evelyn Sanford and Noelle Beckett, nephew Milo Vonberg, and many cousins, uncles, and aunts that loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his grandparents Katherine H. Mills Vonberg and Merle J. Vonberg, his uncle Charles R. Cleveland, as well as his cousin Derrick J. Vonberg II and his loving aunt Rhonda Lynn Vonberg. We now give him to the Lord and angels in Heaven so that they can enjoy the love and humor that he has given all of us throughout the years. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Christian John Vonberg will be private. A public hour of visitation will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene in Dalton, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dana Farber located in Boston MA, Boston’s Pediatric Children’s Hospital, or the Make a Wish Foundation, in care of the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home, 525 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226, in his memory. Donations CANNOT be made online, but may be made through the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home.
