Mrs. Clarice E. Clement, the oldest living resident of Lenox, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 106 years of age. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on May 31, 1914, the daughter of the late Henry and Anne Hughes Bromley, she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1933. Following her graduation, Clarice attended classes at Berkshire Business School. In 1935, Clarice began work as an administrative assistant at Western Union Telegraph Company. It was there she met her husband of 24 years, Harold John Clement. She later worked for General Electric in the telegraph dept.in 1960, and then Trinity Church in Lenox, as secretary. She was a member of St. Helena’s Chapel in Lenox serving on many committees-- her favorite was the alter guild. Among many things, Clarice enjoyed the opera as well as Shakespeare classes that she and her friends enjoyed at Berkshire Community College. She loved doing crafts and her trips to see family in Poultney, VT, as well as holiday get togethers. She also cherished her special visits on Tuesdays from her great granddaughter Charlie who brightened everyone’s day the nursing home. She always looked forward to visits from neighbors and family from Oregon, Virginia, and Vermont. Clarice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold, whom she married on March 22, 1952, as well as her son, David J. Clement, and her stepson, Harold J. Clement, Jr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gail Clement and her grandsons, Trevor Clement (Melissa) of Lenox and Justin Clement of Driggs, ID. She leaves her great granddaughter Charlie, with whom there was a 100-year age difference, and Taylor Blake, who visited the nursing home often. Clarice is also survived by her nephews, Jeffrey Florin (Susan), Craig Florin (Toini) of Virginia Beach, and Bruce Fontaine (Sharon) of Oregon. The family would like to thank Hillcrest Nursing Home for the care and love given to Clarice over the last 6 years and to Hospice Care in the Berkshires for their services over the last couple years. Funeral Notice: There will be a private graveside service for Mrs. Clarice E. Clement at Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlie Clement Education Fund, St. Helena’s Chapel, Danny Boy Adoption Fund (a nonprofit organization for the adoption of elderly animals), or a charity of your choice in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 in her memory. Donations CANNOT be made online, but may be made through the Dwyer Funeral Home.
