Mrs. Constance E. Anderson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Constance “Connie” E. Anderson, 87, a lifelong resident of Pittsfield, MA, joined her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2022. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on August 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Richard and Mary “Betty” Beecher, she graduated from Pittsfield High School and later from Adelphi University. Connie then earned her master’s degree in Education from the former North Adams State College. A teacher in the Pittsfield School System for over 25 years, Connie finished her career as a Biology and Chemistry teacher at Taconic High School in 1992. A lifetime animal lover, Connie adopted and fostered numerous cats and dogs over the years. She volunteered for a number of years with the Berkshire Humane Society, organizing and participating in numerous fundraising events and was known for signing her notes and cards as “Connie and the Kitties.” Connie was also an avid equestrian. She organized several horse shows in Cheshire and for many years rode with Aspinwall Stables in Lenox, participating in fox hunts, trail rides, and parades and holiday events. Connie was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 24 years, Richard “Dick” P. Anderson, whom she married on July 23, 1955. Dick, who served as a US Marine in Iwo Jima during World War II, passed away in May of 1979. She is survived by her daughter, Holly A. Rawnsley of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, as well as numerous extended family members across the country. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Visiting Angels of the Berkshires, Sugar Hill Assisted Living, Springside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and Hospice Care in The Berkshires, for the companionship and care provided to Connie in her later years. Funeral Notice: There will be a celebration of life service for Mrs. Constance E. Anderson on Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home, 220 East Street, Pittsfield MA 01201. A graveside service at Pittsfield Cemetery will directly follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Road, Pittsfield MA 01201.
