Mr. David A. Kamienski

David A. Kamienski 11/1/43 -10/17/18 Born in Madison, Connecticut on November 1, 1943 the son of Matthew W. Kamienski and Florence Stannard Kamienski. The Kamienski Family moved to Pittsfield shortly after WWII. David graduated in 1961 from Pittsfield High School and attended Berkshire Community College for two years before taking a position with Sheaffer-Eaton where he was employed for 27 years. He served as Department Steward, Chief Shop Steward and Vice President of Local 882 Papermakers Union and was also a member of the Central Berkshire Labor Council for four years. When Eaton closed David transitioned to The Berkshire Eagle and worked there for 19 years as the Material Recycling Supervisor and Pre-Print Coordinator. He attended Sacred Heart Church where he volunteered his time in several capacities. David was kind and generous to his fellow man. He was active in several charitable organizations. Among the many were The Christian Center, The American Heart Association, The Jimmy Fund, St Jude's Children's Hospital, The American Cancer Society and several food pantries in Berkshire County. David was a great sports fan who enjoyed rooting for the Red Sox, Bruins and the New York Jets and enjoyed golfing, hiking and running, but his real passion was caring for his canine companions. His many Labs and Golden Retrievers brought much joy and happiness through the years. David is survived by his sister Jean Boyle and her husband John and sisters-in-law Ann, Marilyn and Gerry Kamienski. He also had eleven loving nieces and nephews, Gregory, Cheryl, Scott, Joseph, Kathleen, Jacqueline, Karen, Jennifer, Douglas, Brett, Kurt as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. Additionally, he leaves behind close friends Eric and Mary Catherine Kern and Alan Hall and Sabrina Tatro. David was predeceased by three brothers, Matthew, Ronald and Joseph Kamienski. FUNERAL NOTICE- There will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held on Monday October 22nd at 10am at St. Charles Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Care of the Berkshires, The Christian Center or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
