Mr. James F. Gleason Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James F. Gleason, 60, of Pittsfield, passed away on January 26, 2022 after a long illness. James was born in Pittsfield on September 2, 1961. He was the son of the late Donald J. and Patricia J. (Tremblay) Gleason. Jim attended Pittsfield Schools, graduating from Taconic High School in 1979. After graduating High School, he worked at Sheaffer Eaton until 1983, at which time he proudly began his career as a custodian for the Pittsfield Public Schools. He retired in 1999 due to his failing health. One of his favorite pastimes was attending car races in Laconia, NH and Daytona, FL. He also enjoyed attending the sporting events and violin recitals of his many nieces and nephews. A lifetime Jets fan, every season he held out the hope the team would win the Super Bowl. They did once in 1969 with Joe Namath. He is survived by his sisters Melinda, Nancy, Kate and Donna Gleason, all of Pittsfield, as well as his aunt and godmother Jane Gleason Cyr. His is also survived by his 9 nieces and nephews- Casey Winston Connelly and her husband Bob, Jessica, Kendall and Andrew Winston and Haylee, Brooklyn, Rileigh, Jordyn and Jack Gleason. He was also a proud great uncle to Mason, Levi and Neive. He also leaves his lifelong friend, Mike Rapisarda. He was the brother he always wanted. While devoted to friends and family, his two favorite people were his mother, Patricia, who he lost only 3 weeks ago, and his sister Donna, whom he spoke to every morning and evening. He was a wonderful son and brother. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. James F. Gleason will be private. Public calling hours will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield MA 01201. Due to the recent rise in Covid cases, to be ensure everyone’s health, all who attend are required to wear face masks. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Pittsfield Little League in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
