Mr. Jeffrey W. Hunt Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jeffrey William Hunt, 62, of Pittsfield MA died peacefully at home surrounded by his husband and family on February 18, 2022. Born in Pittsfield, MA on January 4, 1960, son of Harriet Mae Peck Hunt and the late William Josselyn Hunt, he attended schools in both Fern Creek Kentucky and Pittsfield Public Schools. He was a graduate of the PHS class of 1978 and later graduated from Boston College with a degree in Political Science in 1988. Jeff began his career at Friendly’s Restaurant managing restaurants in both Newton and Pittsfield. He also taught at several schools in the Boston Area. Jeff’s interests were truly Music and Politics. Jeff returned to Pittsfield in 1989 to pursue his love of playing the organ and provided a much-needed career change. He was employed at several Churches, including; St Martin’s, Trinity, St Stephen’s, St Teresa, St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Adams, National Shrine of Divine Mercy and retired after 27 years at St Mark’s Church in Pittsfield. Jeff also pursued his political desires with a run for Pittsfield Ward 3 City Council in 1991 and provided key support with all of his husband’s campaigns. Jeff pursued his love for music with many organizations. He was the director of the Hilltown Choral Society. He assisted with many of the productions with Taconic Theatre and also provided music direction with the Town Players working on shows such as Christmastime in the City, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Mama Mia. In June 2021, Christmastime in the City received the Hometown Media Award in a national contest conducted by the Alliance of Community Media. He also performed Phantom of the Opera at St. Mark’s Church, ushered for years at Tanglewood. Jeff served on the Pittsfield Parade Committee Board of Directors for many years as the Vice President. On October 2, 2004, he married his husband, Peter Marchetti. Together they enjoyed to travel especially to Ptown, Clearwater Beach FL and in recent years cruising became the vacation of choice. Survivors include; his husband of 17 years, Peter Marchetti; his mother Harriet Peck Hunt; his brothers Steven (Kim Bertelli-Hunt) of Richmond and James Hunt (Cheryl Phillips Hunt) of Pittsfield, his sister Nancy O’Reilly (Shaun O’Reilly), 11 nieces and nephews, as well as 3 great nieces and nephews. He leaves his fur babies- Dogs- BooBoo, Zorro, Zeus and Wilma and cats - Bubba and Shadow. He was predeceased by his father William Josselyn Hunt in November 2020. A special thanks to staff at HospiceCare in the Berkshires, especially Kaylee, for their care. Their services made a huge difference in Jeff’s care at the end of life. Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be Saturday, February 26 ,2022 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at St Mark’s Church on 400 West St., Pittsfield MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mark’s Church will follow at 1pm. Due to the recent rise in Covid cases, to best ensure everybody’s health, all who attend these services are required to wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers the donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, St Mark’s Food Pantry or The Pittsfield Parade Committee in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
