January 17, 1939 - October 6, 2021
Lois Greenleaf of Pittsfield, 82, died at home on October 6 with her family by her side. She was born in Pittsfield on January 17, 1939, daughter of Elise Burns (Greenleaf) and Thomas Greenleaf. She graduated from Pittsfield High School and went on to school to become a seamstress, later working as a seamstress at BMC for 20 years. Lois is survived by her three children, Rick Brown, Cynthia Klangos, and Patty Brown, and her granddaughter, Kira Brown. She also leaves her brother Thomas Greenleaf and his wife Joy (Campetti) Greenleaf, and her cat Lola, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is predeceased by her brothers John (“Jack”) Greenleaf and Gerald Greenleaf, and her sister Noreen Connors. Lois’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of the Berkshires. Among many things, she found joy in gardening, bird watching, crafting, puzzles, and talking about her only grandchild, who she had a special bond with. Her home was always filled with music, the Beatles being a favorite. She passed on her love of music and animals to her children. She enjoyed spending time at Onota Lake and traveling to the Cape. She shared her love for the holidays by volunteering at the BCAC Giving Tree. She loved family gatherings, many of which she hosted in her backyard on Garden Street. Lois may have been small in stature, but those who knew her know she was a fighter. She worked hard and overcame many challenges in her life, including a battle against polio as a child. Through it all, she remained as kind, loving and generous as they come. Perhaps her struggles contributed to that sarcastic sense of humor we all knew and loved. Her greatest love was for her family, including her three children and granddaughter, who are grateful she is now able to rest. Simply put, anyone who knew Lois loved her. She will be missed by many. FUNERAL NOTICE-At Lois's request, there will not be formal services. The family will be hosting an informal gathering, a celebration of her life at Boema in Lenox, Sunday, October 10 from 12:30-3:30, and welcomes friends and family to stop by and share some memories. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care if DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North Street., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
