Mrs. Maureen B. Quinlan

March 8, 1939 - January 20, 2022

Mrs. Maureen B. Quinlan, 82, of Lenox, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Born in Pittsfield, MA on March 8, 1939, the daughter of the late W. Donald and Cecilia Magner Bercury, she graduated from The College of our Lady of the Elms in 1960 and went on to become an elementary school teacher. Maureen loved to read and, for the majority of her career, was employed by Morningside Elementary School, where she worked as a reading specialist. She also helped establish a local “Reading is FUNdamental” program, which provides children books of their own and emphasizes that reading is the foundation of all learning and must be encouraged early in life. Among many things, she enjoyed reading, staying abreast of current events, gardening, antiquing, hosting holidays, and spending time with her family. An avid golfer, Maureen was a proud member of the Country Club of Pittsfield. Faith was a foundation of her life and she was an active member of the St Mark's and St Theresa communities. Maureen is survived by her beloved husband, David Quinlan. She and Dave wed on July 14, 1962, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary later this year. She leaves behind her children Christopher Quinlan (Monika), Mark Quinlan (Catherine), Peter Quinlan (Jennifer), Mary Jill (Quinlan) McCarthy (Brendan), and Shaun Quinlan (Meghan). Maureen also leaves behind her brother, Donald Bercury (Judith), and sisters-in-law Sr. Connie Quinlan, Martha Barry, and Therese Nesbit (Paul). She is survived by her grandchildren Patrick, Conor, Aidan, Liam, and Rowan Quinlan; Aisling and Teagan Quinlan; Duncan and Lillian Quinlan; Theo and Tucker Quinlan; and Quinn and Laney McCarthy; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at both Kimball Farms Life Care and Berkshire Medical Center for the care they provided Maureen during her final years. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Maureen B. Quinlan will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the non-profit Reading is Fundamental (rif.org) to honor her love and commitment to literacy in children.
