Mr. Patrick J. Carty

March 21, 1964 - January 14, 2021

Patrick J. Carty, 56, of Pittsfield, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He was born in Pittsfield on March 21,1964, the son of the late Edward and Judith Carty. Pat graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1982 and spent most of his life in Pittsfield. From a very young age, Pat loved all things with wheels. He spent a great deal of time as a child taking apart and putting together things to create bicycles and go carts to race around the neighborhood. He moved on to mini bikes, motorcycles and cars as he grew. As an adult, he continued to have a passion for his toys. He loved his trucks, snowmobiles, Harley Davidson motorcycles and even had a lightweight, super fast kit plane at one time. Pat made a career out of building and fixing things, working as a pipe fitter for a number of local construction companies. Pat was a generous friend who looked out for others. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends that needed help. While he was voted “Most Nonchalant” in high school, he was really a worry wart, and would fiercely defend those whom he loved. Pat was most proud of his son, Devin. He was a doting father and best friend who loved to share Devin’s latest accomplishments. Pat is survived by his son, Devin Carty of Greenfield, sister and brother in law Erin and Alec Porter of Marstons Mills, brother and sister in law, Dan and Maura Carty of Sudbury and brother Mike Carty of Pittsfield. He also leaves behind his nephews and niece, Jack, Sam and Maighdlin Carty and his aunts Sharon Ann Carty and Harlene Leahy. Pat will also be remembered by countless friends. Funeral Notice: A private graveside service for Mr. Patrick Carty will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery. A public gathering to celebrate Pat’s life and share stories will be held at a later date, when Covid restrictions are lifted and all are able to safely gather. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat’s memory to The Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club, in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
