Mrs. Paula Kelsey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Paula Kelsey, 78, of 17 Murray St., Adams, MA, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Born in Manhattan, NY on January 9, 1944, the daughter of Geraldine Smith, she was raised by Ethel Hardy Smith, an Opera singer and vocal coach, on the campus of Tuskegee University in Alabama. She graduated from an all-girls boarding school and was an Art Major in college. Paula was employed as a teacher at schools in Massachusetts and New York. She taught the longest at Holmes Tower Daycare , where she dedicated ten years of her life before retiring. After her retirement, Paula went on to own and operate clothing stores in Columbia, SC, North Adams, MA, and Adams, MA. She also worked as an Arts and Crafts Manager at Ames. Among many things, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, modeling, dancing, and playing the piano. She was very active within her community and always found opportunities to teach and work with children. Paula is survived by her husband of 41 years, Louis Kelsey, whom she married on June 1, 1981. She leaves behind her sister: Lavaughn Davies; her children: Quanda Kelsey, Sherron Kelsey and Mario Kelsey; her grandchildren: Charles Moore, Dayquan Kelsey, Jazzmin Cruz, Amarah Kelsey, Messiah Kelsey, and Aeson Kelsey. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her daughters: Carleigha Kelsey and Paula Jerle’ Moore. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Paula Kelsey will be Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 1pm, outdoors at the Unity Terrace at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home, 220 East Street, Pittsfield MA 01201, to which a live webcast will be available.
