Mr. Philip A. Palano Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Philip A. Palano, 92, of Pittsfield, was peacefully reunited with his family and friends in heaven on Monday, February 14, 2022. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on December 28, 1929, the son of the late Salvadore and Catherine Torra Palano, both of Sicily, he graduated from Pittsfield High School. Phil worked as a surveyor’s apprentice, a barber, and, most recently, a machinist at General Electric, from where he retired after many years of dedicated service. Among many things, he was an avid golfer who never turned down an opportunity to play a round on the course. Phil was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 41 years, the former Gilda H. DeFazio, whom he married on September 3, 1956. Gilda passed away on April 19, 1997. He is survived by his children, Helene Robillard (Daniel) of Pittsfield, MA, Daniel Palano (Lori) of Lakewood, CA, and Teresa Palano of Pittsfield, MA. Phil leaves behind his sister Santina Byrd of Denton, Texas, as well as five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Anne Palano and his brother, Frank Palano. Phil was a man of character, both respected and well-loved by all who met him. Though he will be sorely missed, his memory will live on through all of those who were blessed to have known him. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Philip A. Palano will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 11am at St. Stephen’s Church, 67 East Street, Pittsfield MA 01201. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 4pm to 6pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. Due to the recent rise in Covid cases, to best ensure everybody’s health, all who attend these services will be required to wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil’s memory can be made to Habitat for Humanity in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
