Ms. Sheryl Taylor

August 23, 1951 - February 17, 2022

Sheryl Taylor, 70, of Dalton, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, after a long yet courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland, OH, on August 23, 1951, the daughter of the late Elgin and Katherine Moore Andross, she graduated from Wahconah Regional High School, and later went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education, from the former North Adams State College. In the late 1970’s Sherry and her ex-husband Robert moved to Aurora Colorado to start their own life. This is where they were blessed to have 3 amazing children and Sherry began her career in starting her own home daycare facility. Sherry loved children. She opened her own childcare facility where she dedicated over 40 years caring for others. Each child that entered Ms. Sherry’s daycare was treated as one of her own children. She would spend countless hours planning activities, shopping for crafts and decorating her daycare room for each and every occasion. She loved holidays but her absolute favorite was Halloween. For years she would spend days setting up a haunted house for the daycare kids and on a few occasions open it up for kids to come at night. In addition to Halloween she loved buying Valentine balloons for each child and on St. Patrick’s Day a magical leprechaun would turn everything green for the daycare kids and leave them special treats. She touched countless lives while caring for children. Her dedication and passion for her career will live on in the hearts of hundreds of children. She will never be forgotten. Among many things, she most enjoyed her summer trips to Hampton Beach and she was an avid reader. She relished in taking her grandson Cameron to the beach each year as well as other places like Lake George. Spending time to help raise Cameron was one of her greatest joys. Sheryl is survived by her children, Bradford Taylor, Jennifer Taylor, Jamie Taylor and grandson Cameron Taylor. In addition she leaves her brothers Michael Andross (Kim) and Robert Andross (Sarah), and brother-in-law Michael Filby. She leaves behind countless numbers of friends, nieces and nephews, extended family and daycare children who will forever miss her. She was predeceased by her sister, Holly Filby. Funeral Notice: At Sheryl’s request, no formal funeral services will be held. There will be a celebration of life this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Jennifer Taylor to help with end of life expenses or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires.
