Mrs. Yvonne Sumner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Yvonne Sumner, 70, formerly of Washington Ave., passed away on July 21, 2021, at her sons’ home, following a courageous battle with Melanoma. Born in Pittsfield on November 3, 1950, the daughter of Bruce and Glenda Gaviorno Kern, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was employed at Berkshire Community College and later by the Pittsfield Public Schools, in the custodial department. Yvonne enjoyed trips the casinos and watching horse racing. She was a proud and vocal supporter of her Washington Redskins. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Clarence E Sumner, who passed away January 12, 1991. She is survived by her son Joseph M. Armstrong with whom she lived her siblings, Sandy, Bonnie, Val, Holly, Bruce, Deanne and Baron and aunts Marilyn and Donna. Funeral Notice: Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 28 at 11a.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery, with Rev. William Furey, officiating. A calling hour will precede the Graveside services from 9:30am to 10:30am at Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Melanoma Foundation, in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 in her memory.
