Mrs. Georgianna "Georgie" Morrissey

Mrs. Georgianna Morrissey, 81, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on August 28, 1944, daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude Dingman, she graduated from New Lebanon High School with the class of 1964. For the majority of her career, Georgie was employed by Crane and Company, where she worked as an assistant in their production department. It was from there that she retired after 24 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Georgie was a devoted member of the Dalton American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Among many things, she enjoyed the outdoors, whether traveling with her family or home tending to her flower gardens. She loved baking—almost as much as those who awaited the treats she made—and could also be found crafting ceramics. Above all else, Georgie’s greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed a sporting event or any opportunity to spend time by their side. Every Wednesday, Georgie would host spaghetti dinner. More often than not, friends would just show up, eagerly anticipating the meal, and more so, the company. Georgie is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Peter Morrissey. She leaves her daughter, Pamela Chrostowski (Les), and her son, Michael Morrissey (Chris). Georgie is also survived by her grandchildren, Geoffrey Chrostowski (Shay), Matthew Chrostowski (Marcie), Rubecca Arvis (Murat), and Zackary Morrissey, as well as her great grandchildren, Landon Chrostowski, Layne Chrostowski, Kelly Chrostowski, and her newest great grandbaby Peyton Chrostowski, born just 2 days after Georgie’s passing, all of whom she adored. Additionally, Georgie leaves many amazing friends, too numerous to count. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Keach, and her granddaughters, Sara and Mary Chrostowski. Though Georgie will be sorely missed, she will always be remembered for the warmth she so genuinely radiated, the love she effortlessly shared, and, of course, her famous chocolate chip cookies! Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Georgianna will be Saturday, March 14, 2026, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by the Rev. Brian McGrath, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will be Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home in Dalton, 525 Main Street, Dalton MA 01226. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the St. Agnes Food Pantry, that which she ran for 30 years, in care of the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home.
