Mr. Glenn M. Barcher

Glenn Michael Barcher passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Glenn was born on December 2, 1961 to the late Lawrence and Joan (Ciepiela) Barcher in Pittsfield Massachusetts. He attended local Catholic schools and was a 1979 graduate of St. Joseph's high school. After high school Glen worked for various local restaurants including Tahiti Restaurant, Church Street Cafe. He also worked for many years at the Polish Falcons Club Nest 580 in which he was a member as well as the Polish Community Club. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church where he served as an altar boy and as a CCD teacher for 26 years in which received the Pope Pius X award. At the age of 12 Glenn survived a brain tumor and courageously dealt with all the struggles that went with it. Prior to his tumor Glenn played on local minor league and little baseball teams, a sport he loved and we were told by former coaches and players he could possilbly had a career because he was that good. We were truly blessed to have him for 40 more years, displaying for us his courage, grace and love before succumbing to another brain tumor at the age of 52. Glenn is survived by his seven siblings Gayle M. Shook (Bob), Gary M. Barcher (Kim), Greg M. Barcher (Judy) Greta M. Valuski (Mark), Gloria M. Barcher, with whom he resided, Galynn M. Barcher (Leo) Gabrielle M. Thomas (Don). Glenn is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews who brought great joy to his life. Jeff, Nicole, Kailee, Jess, Ryan, Jon, Jake, Chris, Jeremy, Josh, Jason, Dominic, Everett and Sadie. Glenn and the family would like to thank Melissa Keefner, Glenny's PCA, friend and neighbor for her help and kindness. We would also like to thank Hospicecare of the Berkshires and Hillcrest Commons for their wonderful care, kindness, compassion and support during this heartbreaking time, especially his aids Laurie and Terry who made him smile with their music therapy and June and Katherine of Hospice. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Glenn M. Barcher will be Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Emmanuel College dance marathon where his niece Kailee is participating to raise money for the Boston’s Children’s Hospital or A Kids’ Brain Tumor Cure PLGA Foundation, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
