Mrs. Jeanette C. Kushi

Mrs. Jeanette C. Kushi, 94, of Pittsfield passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette was born in Pittsfield February 7, 1924, the daughter of Konstanty and Pauline Koziol Gromacki. She attended local schools. Jeanette was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She previously worked for both Holden Stone and Polymatrix. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and a communicant of St. Charles Church. She loved watching the birds in her backyard and shows such as the Price is Right and the Cooking Network; Columbo with Carol, sharing laughter and cooking with Jeanie, and going shopping with Judy. Jeanette took joy in cooking for her family and to anyone who visited her home, she always asked “did you eat?”. She enjoyed gardening and word search puzzles, going to Red Sox games with her son Gary, and she was a big Kurt Warner Football fan. Neil Diamond was her favorite musician and she could always be found listening to his music. Family was the most important part of Jeanette’s life, and spending time with them was always her top priority. Whether it was attending her grandchildren’s sports events or going to Pedrin’s with her son and just enjoying the ride. Jeanette will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her heart of gold. She was generous to everyone she met and loved unconditionally. She is survived by her 4 children: Gary, Carol, Jean Rufo, and Judy Mullett. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Lori (Scott) Leslie, Dina (Todd) Steinman, Darren (Colleen) Rufo, and Eric, Neil, and Debra Sprague, 7 great grandchildren: Robert (Sarah), Jett, and Shane Steinman, Dakota, Marisa, and Maddie Sprague,Nick and Ashley Rufo and Tiffanie (CJ) Smith, and 1 great-great granddaughter, Olivia Smith. Jeanette was preceded in death in 2005 by her husband, Robert E. Kushi, whom she married November 10, 1945 at the Holy Family Church in Pittsfield. She was also predeceased by her 5 siblings: William, Richard, and Robert Gromacki, Laura Demick, and Stella Russo, and her son-in-law, Scott Mullett. Jeanette will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to have been touched by her unconditional love. Mom and Nani thank you for so many wonderful memories. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanette C. Kushi will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, Pastor Emeritus. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Charles Food Pantry, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, in her memory.
