Mr. John G. Schultheis

Mr. John G. Schultheis, 62, of Pittsfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Born in Pittsfield on August 15, 1954 the son of Gunther and Mary Hilliard Schultheis, he was a 1972 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Mr. Schultheis was currently working as a Machine Maintenance Technician at Curtil Marland Mold where he had been employed for the past 38 years. He had been a communicant of the former St. Teresa Church. His favorite past time was golf, which included playing in many local charity tournaments and especially his annual golf trip to Lake George. He was also member of the Marland Mold Golf League. Using his exceptional craftsman skills, he frequently donated his time to assist family and friends with any indoor or outdoor projects. He never hesitated to share his knowledge and abilities with others. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to his Sunday Irish music program, camping, fishing with his wife and taking his beloved dog, Molly, for rides in his truck. His greatest joy was sharing life with his best friend and wife of 40 years. He especially loved family gatherings and being a role model to his grandsons, whom adored him. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be deeply missed by those who knew, loved and respected him. Besides his father, Gunther, of Pittsfield, he is survived by his wife, the former Susan Scapin, whom he married on August 15, 1976 in Pittsfield; two children, Jennifer A. Schultheis of Pittsfield and Jason M. Schultheis and his partner Kathie Penna of Pittsfield; two brothers, Kurt Schultheis and Brian Schultheis, both of Pittsfield; three sisters, Susan Tuccio and her husband Dale of Florida, Katherine Arinello, of Virginia, and Jacqueline Owen of Lanesborough; three grandchildren, Gabriel, Levi and Samuel Schultheis; mother-in-law, Lena Scapin; brother-in-laws, Gene Scapin (Bernadette),Rick Scapin (Kathy) and David Scapin (Kathleen) and many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Molly. Besides his mother, Maureen, he was predeceased by a brother Michael Schultheis and his father-in-law, Eugene Scapin Sr. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. John G. Schultheis will be Friday, January 20, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home, will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
