Joseph John Ferraro, Jr.

Joseph John Ferraro, Jr. passed away in the afternoon of Wednesday February 7, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center after a brief hospitalization from a heart attack. Joseph was surrounded and comforted by family during the time of his passing; he was 82 years old. Joseph was born in Pittsfield, MA on July 3, 1941 to Clare (née Sheerin) and Joseph J. Ferraro Sr. He was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1969 graduate of UMass Amherst where he had earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Immediately following high school Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served honorably until 1963. Joseph had a penchant for working with and repairing electronics, anything with a motor, and was a polymath in his own right. He was a retired Teamster truck driver and auto electrician. Joseph had been a lifelong communicant of St. Charles parish; having attended St. Charles’ school K-8, volunteering for Bingo, and attended the 7:15am mass every Sunday for his entire life. Joseph was considered both loyal and trustworthy and had reserved composure with a great sense of humor. He was quick to put everybody else’s needs before his own, and was both humble and thoughtful. Joseph is predeceased by his wife Carol (née Tiblom) of 35 years; his sister Mary Suzanne Harrison of Pittsfield, MA. Joseph is remembered by his son Bryan and his wife Arielle, and granddaughter Evey of New York; his son Anthony and his fiancé Kriste along with grandchildren Samantha and Justin (Kathleen) and great-grandson Bennett of Pittsfield, MA; his nieces Theresa Edmonds (Tony) of Flint, MI, and Paula Dewey (Joe), grandnephew Joey Dewey of Pittsfield, MA, and grandniece Lauren Davis (Mike) of Utah; his nephew Peter Harrison and grandnephew Trevor of Pittsfield, MA; his brother-in-law Charlie Tiblom of St Petersburg, FL; his companion Dianne Williams of Pittsfield, MA. Joseph was well loved and will be missed by everyone, especially his family and daily morning coffee crew. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Joseph John Ferraro, Jr., will be Saturday, February 24, 2024, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am at St. Charles Church. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home in Pittsfield, 220 East Street, Pittsfield MA 01201.
