Mary M. Doucette

Mary M. Doucette, 95, died peacefully February 25, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center, with her four daughters lovingly at her side. Born in Pittsfield on February 15, 1922, daughter of William J. and Elizabeth M. Hynes Quinn, she was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mary was employed as a secretary at General Electric, working for ten years in the Power Transformer Department. She married George G. Doucette of Malden, MA on October 14, 1950 at St. Mark’s Church and they celebrated fifty-six years together. Her greatest joy was being with her family. She richly affected the lives of her loved ones with her caring nature, sense of fairness and humorous ways. Mary was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and belonged to the Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed playing golf as a member of Wahconah Country Club. One of her biggest thrills was getting a hole-in-one during an Invitational Golf Tournament at Stockbridge Golf Club. Other passions included bird-watching, bowling, bridge, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She loved traveling and visited Ireland, Germany, Italy, France, Scandinavia, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and all across the continental USA. Mary is survived by her brother, Richard V. Quinn of Pittsfield; four daughters, Christine Smith of Hillsboro, WV and her husband Michael, Elaine Myers of Pittsfield, Ann Makowski of New Boston, NH and her husband Stan, and Jean Hamilton of Pittsfield and her husband Tom; nine grandchildren, Aaron Cumashot and his wife Hannah, Patrick Cumashot, Adam Cumashot Lauren Myers and fiancé Alex Francis, John Myers, Paul Makowski, Dan Makowski, Tom Hamilton, and Jenna Hamilton; three great-grandchildren, Damian, Eva and Natalie Francis; her goddaughter Nora Czechowski and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband George; three brothers, John, William and Joseph Quinn; two sisters, Elizabeth Maston and Eleanor Belknap; and beloved nieces Jean Caracciolo, Barbara Durkee, Kathleen Quinn, Betty Ann Maston and Jane Belknap Hoffman. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary M. Doucette will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Audubon Society, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in her memory.
