Mrs. Mary A. Monteleone

Mrs. Mary A. Monteleone, 77, of 165 Seaport Blvd., Cape Canaveral, Fl., formerly of 17 Bay State Rd. Pittsfield, died on Friday, July 13, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsfield, on October 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Lawrence R. Palmer, Sr. and Alice (Coy) Palmer. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Upon graduation Mrs. Monteleone went on to work at General Electric and soon after married Richard N. Monteleone her devoted husband of 59 years. She fulfilled her life ’s passion by staying home and raising her 8 children. Latter she returned to work as Sales Manager for Beeline Fashions, worked as a Legal Secretary and eventually worked as office manager for John J. Martin Sr., Esq. In 1990, at the age of 56, she returned to college to follow her dream of becoming a nurse. In 1992 she graduated with High Honors from Berkshire Community College with her Associates degree in Nursing. She worked at Berkshire Medical Center until her retirement to Florida in 1995. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittsfield and a member of the Ladies Guild. While in Florida, she was a communicant of Our Savior’s Catholic Church and an active member of “The Small Group“, a Christian prayer group, in Cape Canaveral, Fl. She leaves her husband, Richard N. Monteleone whom she married on October 4, 1952 in St. Joseph’s Church. Mrs. Monteleone is also survived by her eight children, Ann Marie Adams and her husband Thomas of Pittsfield, Michael Monteleone and his wife Donna of Raleigh, NC, Jeffrey Monteleone of Monrovia, CA, Thomas Monteleone and his life partner Daniel Barnat of Waltham, MA, Denise Wiedeman of Cape Canaveral, FL, Richard Monteleone and his wife Kathy of Rincon, GA, Brenda Ossinger and her husband Mark of Norfolk, MA and Michelle Monteleone- Ethier and her husband Gary of Pittsfield; a sister, Florence Tarbell of Pittsfield and 22 grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Alex, Andrew Therrien and David and Jacqueline Adams, Kristen Laney and Katie Monteleone, Tammy Monteleone, Jeffrey Monteleone Jr. and Bryce, Gregory, Adam, Heather and Jessica Wiedeman, Shannon, Zach, Nicholas and Keri Monteleone, Evan Ossinger and Abigal and Anthony Either;12 great grandchildren, Tessa, Karrissa Boyer, William, Michael and Julia Therrien, Shelby, Kyle and Nora Laney, Vander and Adriaan Rykschroeff and Mariann and Tabitha Monteleone. She was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence R. Palmer Jr. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Monteleone will be Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St. Pittsfield, MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will be private in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to CurePSP or Hospice Care in The Berkshires , care of the Dwyer Funeral Home , in her memory.
