Mr. Robert E. Andrews Sr.

Mr. Robert E. Andrews Sr., 99, of 191 Fort Hill Ave., Passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Stockbridge, MA on June 30, 1914 the son of Joseph and Lillian Cook Andrews, he moved to Pittsfield at a young age and attended local schools. Mr. Andrews worked for General Electric in Pittsfield in the Button Shop and had also owned several businesses. He owned Andrews Sanitary Ice, Andrews Oil Company, Berkshire Car Wash and Andrews Wheel Alignment and Repair. He enjoyed Candle Pin Bowling, Antiques, Coin Collecting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed working in his flower garden and yard and restoring and driving classic Cadillacs. Mr. Andrews will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. Mr. Andrews was predeceased by his wife of many years, the former Dorothy Bramley, she died in 1992. He leaves five children, Robert Andrews Jr. and his wife Joyce and Joseph Andrews and his wife Evelyn, all of Pittsfield, Lawrence Andrews and his wife Joyce of South Carolina, and Paul Andrews and Bruce Andrews and his wife Christine, all of Pittsfield; 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bishop of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by a son, Neil Andrews, a grandson, Roy Andrews, a great grandson Danny Currey Jr., two brothers, Ralph Andrews and Oren Andrews and four sisters, Irene Rozon, Ruth Boyer, Helen Kohlemberger and Beatrice Londergan. The family of Mr. Andrews would like to thank the staff at Springside Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing and also the nurses from Hospice Services of Western MA for the excellent care they gave Bob over the last few months. Funeral Notice: Funeral Services for Mr. Robert E. Andrews Sr., will be Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chuck Young, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to Hospice Services of Western MA, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201, in his memory.
