Mr. Robert P. Dascani

Robert “Bobby” P. Dascani, 59, of Pittsfield, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2015 while vacationing in Aruba. Born on April 14, 1956 the son of Dominic and Dorothy Nylic Dascani, he was a graduate of Taconic High School and also attended Berkshire Community College. Bob was a longtime employee of the Pittsfield Public Schools. He started as a custodian at Morningside on September 2, 1980 and was later transferred to Mercer. He was appointed as Senior Building Custodian at Mercer on June 15, 1992 and then appointed as Director of Custodian Services July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2006. He then was appointed as Night Senior Custodian at Reid Middle School July 1, 2006 and transferred to Senior Building Custodian at Mercer on August 2, 2010 and remained there until his passing. He was actively involved in the Custodial Union, Local 1315; serving as President of the Custodians Union from 1986 until he resigned in 2002 to become Director of Custodial Services. Mr. Dascani was an avid golfer. He belonged to the Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown and played at Pontoosuc Lake Country Club in the Men’s league on Monday Nights. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Black Hawks, Baltimore Orioles and the St. Louis Rams. He enjoyed Jazz music and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially looked forward to his annual trip to Aruba which he referred to as his “second home”. In addition to his parents of Pittsfield, he is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Dupuis, with whom he recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary; they were married on September 8, 1989; a brother, Michael Dascani and his wife Heather; his mother in law, Jeanette Dupuis of Pittsfield; two sisters in law, Constance St. John and her husband Craig and Denise Haywood and her husband George; a brother in law, Stuart Dupuis, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Robert “Bobby” P. Dascani will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. John J. Brennan, pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Monson, MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, June 15, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Robert P.
